Mirian Hirezi
Her experience for more than two decades has been focused on the promotion of sustainable human development and the protection of the environment, especially of the hydrographic basins that are born in the Trifinio region and that drain the countries of the Northern Triangle of Central America; Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.
Mirian Hirezi is a person very committed to the conservation of this important region rich in ecosystems, cloud forests and a wide range of species of flora and fauna, which is considered to have been a refuge from the Pleistocene era and which, however, due to the impact of climate change climate has been progressively degrading.
In its capacity as Trinational Executive Secretary of the Trifinio Plan, it has enabled the formation of local and regional networks and platforms that promote greater cross-border cooperation for the sustainable management of these water-producing ecosystems, which serves different uses, human consumption, productive use and hydroelectricity; has promoted important steps at the international level for the region to be declared a trifinio-fraternity cross-border biosphere reserve by UNESCO and has managed and coordinated the execution of important development projects for the region in order to promote the strengthening of integration trinational, sustainable management of natural resources, the promotion of a sustainable economy and social development with a focus on gender and youth.
She is Salvadoran, has studied in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Spain, graduating as an economist, specializing in development projects and has worked with different international cooperation agencies and at the national level in El Salvador and Nicaragua.
